Earlier this year Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity announced that they will be constructing a new home in Greene County for the first time in ten years. The construction will take place sometime in 2019 and Associate Director Jeff Lamoureux says they are still reviewing possible families to fill that home. In the meantime he welcomes volunteers from surrounding areas, including Guthrie County, to stay informed on when the project will be happening.
Even though this project is for a future Greene County homeowner, Lamoureux says Guthrie County could be next. “Possibly as we move on maybe that’s something that, as our volunteer base grows in Guthrie County, that we can look at in future years of doing that and building a home down there. Kind of that more traditional model of Habitat for Humanity.”
