Jeff Lamoureux, Pat Gearhart, and Mary Pedersen return to the same roles they had coaching Greene County cross-country in 2017. Lamoureux starts his second season heading both the girls and boys programs. Gearhart, a Jefferson Police Department Officer, has been the high school assistant for several seasons, and Pedersen returns to coach the girls and boys on the middle school level.
Lamoureux said he’s fortunate, as are the runners, to have Pat and Mary on the coaching staff. I like the fact that all three of us are returning in the same coaching positions we had a year ago, but it goes beyond that. Getting to spend time on a regular basis with people like Pat and Mary surely benefits them in ways beyond cross-country. These are top notch, high character individuals that were athletes and distance runners themselves. We’re fortunate to have them with us.”
The high school teams compete in just 10 days at the Gilbert Invitational on Thursday, Aug. 23 in Ames on the Iowa State University cross-country course.
