Jefferson Police have arrested two people on outstanding warrants from incidents that happened in May.
According to a press release, officers arrested 43-year-old Jody Lyn Schad and 45-year-old Jennifer Marie Ashby just before 11am Friday, at a residence in the 100 block of East Central Street. Schad faces a Class C Felony for first degree theft, two Class D Felonies for second degree theft, four aggravated misdemeanors for third degree burglary, a serious misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of marijuana, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Ashby faces a serious misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Schad’s charges stem from two separate alleged incidents. On May 17th, a company notified the Jefferson Police Department that some items had been stolen from their location in the 400 block of East Central Avenue. After reviewing the company’s surveillance system, the individual had gone through four vehicles and appeared to have taken several tools on May 14th. Police were able to identify the suspect as Schad. An executed search warrant of Schad’s property on May 23rd recovered about 90-percent of the stolen items. Police also recovered drug-related items during the search, which tested positive for marijuana. Ashby was also charged with misdemeanors stemming from the search.
The other incident involving Schad was on May 30th, when he allegedly stole a 1979 Harley Davidson motorcycle from a residence in the 700 block of North Cedar Street. The victim claimed he witnessed seeing Schad riding his motorcycle on Highway 30 and watched him crash and total it as well.
Both were booked into the Greene County Jail. Ashby was released under her own recognizance, while Schad was released a short time later after posting bail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
