The Greene County Farm Bureau recently held its annual member appreciation banquet.

One of the highlights of the event is the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award. This year’s recipient is Juhl Feed, Incorporated in Dana. The business started in 1962 when Eldon Juhl bought the feed warehouse from Martha Juhl. He then built a fertilizer warehouse and feed mill in 1964. Eldon has also been credited with starting one of the first hog contracting operations in Iowa.

After his untimely death in 1987 from a car accident, his son Mark took over the business and carried on his dad’s legacy. The feed mill uses locally grown corn and due to its small size, it allows for one-on-one customer service.
