The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office will soon be adding a new patrol vehicle to their fleet.
The Board of Supervisors recently approved a vehicle purchase request from the Sheriff’s Office, which will allow them to buy a 2018 Dodge Durango. The vehicle is a replacement for a 2014 Ford Explorer Utility, which had reached the end of its lifespan in law enforcement. They purchased the Durango for $28,755 from Stew Hansen Dodge in Urbandale, though the Sheriff’s Office was able to get $5,000 in trade-in for the Explorer. It’s being paid for as a scheduled budget item.
Additionally, Sheriff’s Office Executive Assistant Shannon Rollings told the Board the new vehicle is pursuit-rated, which means it will function as a patrol vehicle, as opposed to an unmarked investigation vehicle.
