For the first time since 2004, the City of Stuart sponsored a cleanup weekend for residents. Local historian and Stuart native Bob Cook says it was a success.
In a post to the “Stuart Iowa Home Town” Facebook group page, Cook says several 40-yard dumpsters were filled to capacity and many residents came to unload their unwanted materials. Based on what he saw this past weekend, Cook feels recycling bins should be seriously considered as a possible improvement to daily living in the City.
He also thanked those who volunteered to help sort and load the items, and says even more are necessary for future cleanups. Stuart joined several surrounding communities in cleanup efforts, including Guthrie Center, Panora, and Greenfield.
