Perry teens are reminded that tomorrow the public library is hosting the finale of the “Discover Space” Summer Reading Program.
The after-hours Alien Invasion party will run from 6-10 p.m. at the library. Deputy Library Director Misty VonBehren says the teens always enjoy having parties in the library when there’s no one else around, and she’s got a full slate of activities planned for them. “We’re going to have crafts, there’s going to be games available, either board games or (Nintendo) Wii games. I’ll also do my grand prize drawings that day. And generally what I like to do for that is I’ll do the grand prize drawing for everybody that’s participated, and then for those that are in attendance, they also get some prizes for that evening for coming. So that’s always exciting.”
Another activity VonBehren has planned is the “Saran Wrap Ball Game,” where the kids will unwrap a plastic wrap ball while rolling dice, and they get to keep all the prizes they uncover until they roll doubles. VonBehren is also excited for the “War of the Worlds” Nerf gun battle between aliens and astronauts. There will also be food, drinks, and snacks provided.
There is no cost to attend the finale event, and no registration is required. For more information, stop in or call the library at 515-465-3569.
