panoraThe Panora Downtown Enhancement Committee recently met to discuss improvements to the area.

Among those improvements was the proposed removal of the shuffleboard court and the plantings on the south edge of the court. The committee felt that the court had been overrun and in disrepair from lack of use over the years. The Panora City Council approved the request to remove the court and surrounding foliage and replace it with grass and trees later this fall.

The committee also recently acquired the services of a few Panorama High School students to help weed the flower beds late last month in preparation for this weekend’s Panorama Days. Other discussion items from the meeting included: hiring a maintenance person; a quote from Wood Duck Tree Farms to install rock in the flower beds on either side of the Plaza; and window-tinting on building facades. The meeting concluded with a tour of the downtown square and picking a location to place a donated table.

Panorama Days will take place Friday-Sunday and Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be on hand. We will be broadcasting live from 3-6pm on Friday and 9am-2pm on Saturday, as well as playing live music and making local announcements.
