Dallas County Conservation invites aspiring hunters from all around to take part in their upcoming Hunter Education Field Day.
The event will be held on Tuesday, August 7th from 8 a.m. – noon at Forest Park Museum in Perry. In addition to basic firearm use, students will learn survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, basics of wildlife management, hunting laws, and firearm and archery safety. The course will also stress the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.
In order to participate, individuals must first pass an Iowa approved online hunter education course, and provide proof the training was completed. They must also pass the final exam following the field day in order to receive certification. Anyone born after January 1, 1972 must be certified in hunter education before they are eligible to purchase a hunting license. You must also be at least 12-years-old to take part in the field day.
The course is free to the public, but registration is required. For more information or to register, click the link below or call Forest Park at 515-465-3577
