Several Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers volleyball players traveled to a collegiate team camp in Nebraska last month. The Tigers went to the University of Nebraska Omaha campus for the Maverick’s Advanced Specialty Camp on July 18 & 19. ADM head volleyball coach Mary Beth Scott said the two days involved a lot of scrimmages against volleyball teams from across the Midwest. “We saw schools from South Dakota, we played the Millard (Omaha NE), Blair (NE), you’d see all different (regional) teams,” Scott said, “We played one Iowa team and that was Atlantic. Usually, that’s what happens; we’ll end up playing only one Iowa school.”
Coach Scott was impressed with how UNO had the camp laid out and the athletic facilities on campus. “There’s three sites, and the site we played at was fairly new complex, but they have eight to ten courts,” Scott added, “Air conditioned, (it was a) great facility. (UNO) gets a really good turn out (for their team camp) because we all want our girls to get touches on the (volley)ball.”
The returning ADM players who attended the two-day Advanced Speciality Camp hosted by the UNO Women’s volleyball team include incoming seniors Jordyn Crow and Briann Powers and incoming juniors Delaney Bertman and Josi Lonneman. The Tigers will hold their first official practice of the season on Monday as the squad gears up for the season-opening tournament at Dallas Center-Grimes on Tuesday, August 21.
