Greene County High School had its share of athletic highlights during the 2017-18 school year. We take a look at a few of those on this Sports Page.
The Fall sports season saw senior Haley Hall qualify for the Class 2A Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Cross-Country Meet north of Ft. Dodge. She did so by finishing in the top 10 at the Lake City golf course, and while she was also a member of the Boone High School swimming team through an athletic sharing agreement. The cross-country/swimming double was a rarity for a Greene County student. A conflict did arise when the State X-C meet was the same day as the swimming regional meet. She chose to take part in cross-country and finished in 78th place in a field of 136 runners. Jeff Lamoureux was in his first season as girls and boys X-C coach.
The Rams went 7-27 on the volleyball court in what would be veteran head coach Donna Carhill’s last season. Coach Carhill had teams qualify for State Tournaments at three different schools- Scranton, Carroll, and Jefferson-Scranton. Senior Megan Durbin earned first team all-conference honors last fall.
