Greene County High School athletes, especially football players, have put in a lot more off-season time than prior to when second year head coach Mitch Moore arrived from the staff of the Iowa State University Cyclones. The Coach told Raccoon Valley Radio the efforts are already paying off. “There’s not a kid that did it the right way that didn’t show gains this summer and we’re really seeing it in this back end of Summer. We’re seeing it in football in seven-on seven. Last week we went 7-0 and beat Ft. Dodge, ADM, and Winterset, among others. Those are 4A and 3A programs and there was no question we were the better in-shape team in every one of those games. Our kids have done a really good job of executing the plan and trusting the process.

The Rams were 1-8 in each of the past two seasons. The program has dropped in class size for 2018-19 from 3A to 2A. Official practice begins on Aug. 6. Greene County held its Ironman Football Camp Aug. 30-31 for youngsters going into third grade all the way up to seniors in high school with 130 attending.
