Greene County Public Health has expanded their specialized immunization clinics to provide other services regarding back to school issues.
The clinics will be held from 4:30 to 6:30pm at the public health office in the Greene County Medical Center tomorrow and next Wednesday. Not only will it include required immunizations for the upcoming school year, but there will also be dental and lead screenings, free haircuts and parents can sign up their child to receive a free backpack filled with school supplies. Public Health Director Becky Wolf says this is a way they can provide even more services to be a kind of one-stop area for parents that have children going to back school.
The clinics are specifically geared toward incoming kindergarteners, 7th and 12th graders, however it is open to children of all ages. Kindergarteners are required to have their Tdap, Polio, MMR and Varicella vaccinations, while 7th graders need to have their Tdap and meningitis vaccines. They are also recommended to receive the HPV and Hepatitis A vaccinations. The incoming 12th graders are required to have the meningitis vaccine, and are recommended to get the Hepatitis A, HPV, Meningitis B and Varicella vaccines as well.
