A Jefferson man faces charges following a weekend incident with police.

According to a press release from the Jefferson Police Department, they were notified of drug charges from Des Moines on 51-year-old Robert Alan Fry. At 10:10am Saturday, officers went to Fry’s home in the 200 block of High Street to arrest him on a parole violation warrant from a previous Greene County case. However, when officers arrived, Fry left the residence through the rear door.

Captain Heath Enns says officers spent about two-hours looking for the suspect and had an officer in an unmarked vehicle at his residence in case he came back home. Fry showed up back home and the officer caught him trying to flee on a motorcycle. As the officer was trying to apprehend Fry from the motorcycle, the spinning wheel caught the officer on the leg and caused a minor injury and damaged the officer’s uniform and body camera.

Fry was additionally charged with a Class D Felony for second degree criminal mischief for causing over $1,000 in damages, and serious misdemeanors for interference with official acts causing bodily injury and driving with a revoked license. He was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail.
