Although the Guthrie County Fair is still over a month away, several projects from Guthrie County 4-H clubs got the opportunity to show off their skills ahead of next month’s Iowa State Fair. Of the 513 total entries submitted, 43 earned purple ribbons, 90 received lavender ribbons, and 355 achieved a blue ribbon.
Kiersten Knobbe of the U.S. Sunbeams chapter received the most individual purple ribbons with four. Her projects included: “Grandma’s Grandkids Sign,” “Basic Hand Sewing Stitches,” Grocery Store/Bakery/Puppet Theatre Play Station,” and “Design Elements and Art Principles of 4-H.” Parker Owen, Weston Ploeger, and Rylee Sloss each received three purple ribbons. Those who received two purple ribbons include: Carson Fisher, Reagan Gibson, Ruby Hummel, Elijah Madsen, and Kael Rutledge.
Of the 43 purple ribbons, 29 were given for Static entries, twelve for communications projects, and two for clothing submissions. Gibson and Sloss received the purple ribbons for clothing submissions.
