One week before the start of regular season practice, the Panorama Panther cross country teams are spending the next three days out of state training for the upcoming season. Panorama head cross country coach Greg Thompson taped an interview for this week’s Guthrie County PM Sports Page over the weekend discussing several preseason topics ahead of the 2018 season. One of the topics was this weeks out of state team camp that started out of a fundraising effort two years ago. “I had a group of kids says ‘well if we raise this money, what are we going to use it for? How about a trip to Colorado'” Thompson said, “Lets do some research and see if we can make that happen. I got some parents involved and they helped us raise a little bit more money, and the kids paid some money on their own to go so we went ahead and pursued that.”

Twenty-three student-athletes and coaches from Panorama are making the trip to Colorado for the week of training. Thompson says the trip is designed to combined endurance training, education, and a little bit of sightseeing. “We drive out Sunday, put in a team run and some team meetings on Sunday night, and then we are there Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and return on Thursday,” Thompson said, “It’s a quick, short-lived trip.”

Thompson adds the trip will include multiple 30-minute runs, hiking, a trip to the Denver Aquarium, and more. Listen to an interview with Panorama head cross country coach Greg Thompson on the Guthrie County PM Sports Page, tonight at 6 p.m. on True Country K 107.9.
