The Jefferson City Council recently approved the preliminary and final plats for lots at the Greene County Development Corporation’s (GCDC) East Business Park.

Jefferson Building Official Nick Sorensen says GCDC presented the preliminary and final plats for three parcels in their business park and they wanted to turn that into four buildable lots. Sorensen notes that the typical process is that the preliminary plat would go through the planning and zoning commission, with final approval coming from the city council. However, Sorensen says the process was expedited due to several reasons.

“Water and sewer is already out there. There might be some grading issues when it comes to somebody building a building, but that’s no different than any shovel-ready lot. One thing that each developer, per lot, will have to address is stormwater retention. And we’ll work those through the City and the City Engineer to make sure that stormwater is taken care of.”

Another reason is because Dr. Mark Peters has already started having a contractor do some site work in preparation of building a new facility for his veterinary clinic in one of the frontage lots that’s east of the Super 8 Motel and south of Highway 30. GCDC’s land stretches from near Central Street to Gallup Road. GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton noted in a GCDC meeting earlier this month that there is interest from another business to locate in their business park for a crematory.
