A Redfield man was sentenced Thursday in federal court to 17-and-a-half years in prison, on felony charges stemming from an investigation conducted in 2016.
According to a press release from the US Department of Justice, 53-year-old David James Lister was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of firearms. In August of 2016, law enforcement officers made two undercover purchases of meth from Lister at his apartment in Redfield. A search warrant was then executed at the residence on August 23rd. Approximately 1.5 pounds of meth was discovered in Lister’s safe, as well as over $2,000 that he admitted came from selling the drugs. Numerous firearms were also seized from a nearby storage facility.
Lister would later acknowledge being a multi-pound methamphetamine dealer, trafficking roughly $20,000-worth every two weeks and selling to 12-15 customers in the Redfield area. He also admitted that the firearms were received in trade for meth. The matter was investigated by the Des Moines Police Department, and the case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
