Though the Adel Public Library’s summer reading program has wrapped up, there are lots of programs and events scheduled for August, starting this week.
This Thursday, kids are invited to Evans Park for a Teddy Bear Picnic. The event will include a story, a song, and a snack, and children can bring their favorite stuffed friend along. Parents are also encouraged to attend, and bring along a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park afterwards. In case of rain, the picnic will be moved to the story room at the library.
The following day, people of all ages are invited to the “Touch a Truck” event. There will be trucks, tractors, fire engines, squad cars, and school busses filling the City Hall parking lot for people to explore. The vehicles are being supplied by the City of Adel, the Adel Fire Department, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Schools, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Ankeny Sanitation, and a local farming family. There will also be several toy vehicles for kids to ride and play on. “Touch a Truck” will be held Friday from 9-11 a.m.
There is no cost to attend either event, and no registration is required. For more information on these and other programs at the library, visit AdelPL.org.
