There’s lots of entertainment to be had today and tomorrow during the 19th Annual Old-Fashioned Threshing Bee in Jefferson.
Co-organizer Nick Foster says there will be two threshing demonstrations today at 10am and 2pm featuring gas and steam-powered tractors. Plus, there will be a steam plowing demonstration at 4pm. Then at 6pm will be a free barbecue meal with live musical entertainment. Sunday there will be a tractor ride up to Lohrville and back starting at 7am, followed by another threshing demonstration at 2pm.
Other activities include: a cornbox, petting zoo, blacksmith demonstrations, hand-crank corn shelling, and an antique tractor and truck show. Foster adds that due to all of the sponsorships, everything is free and open to the public.
“It amazes me every year. Everybody helps out. I walk in and every year they’re ready to give me the same amount of money they did before. They really back us. No whining and no complaining, everyone is really excited to be a part of this. It’s just really been a humbling experience as far as that.”
The event is held at the Foster/Timmons Farm which is located at 1176 M Avenue in Jefferson.
