One full week since the end of the 2018 season and members of the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers softball team (35-8 overall) continues to receive postseason awards. ADM head softball coach Rick Dillinger on Thursday morning announced on social media that outgoing senior Ashley Tennant and incoming junior Abbie Hlas are among the 20 players selected to the Iowa Girls Coaches Associations Class 4A All-State first team. The pair also were first-team All-State selections by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, Raccoon River Conference first-team members, and Class 4A All-District West performers.
Tennant played 41 games in her final season at ADM, posting .443 batting average and an on-base percentage of .520. She led Class 4A softball with 15 home runs and plated 50 runs. Tennant switched from third base to catcher in the field, making only four errors in 368 chances this summer. Tennant is continuing her softball career at Des Moines Area Community College in Boone this fall. Hlas topped the state of Iowa in innings pitched with 285.2. She recorded all 43 results for ADM, posting a 1.91 earned run average and held opposing batters to a .176 batting average. Hlas posted a strikeout to walk ratio of 4.5:1. She led ADM offensively with a .493 batting average and 26 doubles recorded. The ADM Tiger softball team made a 16 win improvement from last season, registering a 35-8 overall record and finished runner-up in last week’s Class 4A State Softball tournament in Dillinger’s fifth season with the program.
