Earlier this summer the Greene County Community School Board of Education approved the hiring of Chris Heisterkamp as head volleyball coach. Heisterkamp has years of experience coaching the sport, including several as an assistant coach to Donna Carhill, the former longtime head coach of the Rams, who stepped down from teaching and coaching at the end of the 2017-18 school year.

Greene County has struggled to get over the .500 mark in recent years, and last season’s top player, Megan Durbin, has graduated. She was a first team Heart of Iowa Activities Conference all-conference selection last fall. Two other 2018 graduates, Chantel Flack and Samantha Hardaway, were honorable mention all-conference choices.

Returning from the 7-27 squad of 2017 are four letter winners. They are juniors Sophia Havens, Aubrey Heupel, and Harleigh, plus sophomore Lily Muir.

The first official practice for Greene County volleyball is on August 6.
