A factor in the significantly improved season for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers softball team was their home run hitting ability. The Tigers topped the Raccoon River Conference this summer with 28 hits over the fence. Only the Charles City Comets had more home runs than ADM in Class 4A softball this season, belting 34 home runs. Outgoing senior Ashley Tennant topped Class 4A softball with 15 total home runs in 41 games played. Incoming junior Sierra Wyant and incoming sophomore Brooke Hickey hit four home runs apiece for the Tigers. Incoming junior Abbie Hlas and incoming freshman Brynn Busta registered two home runs each while incoming freshman Olivia Tollari had one. The ADM Tiger softball teams extra-base hits also included 74 doubles and five triples. The 2018 version of the ADM Tiger softball team finished with a 35-8 overall record, a 16 win improvement from last season. The Tigers finished runner-up in the Class 4A State Softball tournament last week in Fort Dodge, falling to the Des Moines Hoover Huskies, 8-3.
