With baseball season in the rearview mirror, the athletic focus at West Central Valley Community Schools shifts to fall sports. Members of the Wildcats varsity football team have already taken part in a seven on seven camp earlier this month hosted by Simpson College in Indianola. West Central Valley head football coach Eric Addy tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Wildcats will return to Indianola today and tomorrow to take part in the Simpson College Storm Two Day Team Football Camp. “Which is a full-padded team camp,” Addy said, “And we’ll get anywhere from three to four scrimmages in against some other smaller school teams. We might go against some larger schools based on our matchups.”

The Wildcats posted their best record during Addy’s tenure last fall, finishing the 2017 season with a 3-6 overall record. West Central Valley secured wins against Guthrie County rivals AC/GC and Panorama the previous fall. The 2018 West Central Valley football season begins Friday, August 24 in Urbandale against the Des Moines Chrisitan Lions.
