Tomorrow, the Perry Public Library’s “Discover Space” Kids Summer Reading Program will conclude with a special movie event.
Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says they will be showing “Muppets in Space,” which she felt was an appropriate film to wrap up their space-themed programs. The movie is rated “G” and is 88 minutes long, and there will be free snacks for attendees. Following the movie will be drawings for prizes, and Kestel says this year she has two grand prizes for each of the three age groups. She’s excited to reward even more kids than usual for their diligent reading over the summer.
Overall, Kestel felt it was a great year for the kids summer reading program, and she gave a lot of credit to the “Discover Space” exhibits. “The kids really got into the theme of it. I saw so many of them out participating and actually being involved in the different kiosks. And that brought up questions then as we talked in our story times. And so I still thoroughly enjoy doing it (the reading program), and I think they enjoyed the theme, and it went well!”
The finale will begin at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in the library’s large meeting room. To learn more about each of the Perry Library’s summer reading programs, click the link below to listen to the Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with the Perry Library Ladies.
