A deputy investigated a civil issue on Bell Street, Churdan.

A deputy investigated a careless driving complaint on 290th Street near J Avenue.

A deputy assisted with a unruly child in the 500 block of Sand Street, Churdan.

The Sheriff, deputies, Scranton Fire, Jefferson Fire, and Greene County EMS responded to two vehicle accident on 220th Street and Eaton Avenue. Jackie Hawthorne 18 of Scranton was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am heading west bound and crossed the center line and struck the other vehicle. Jackie’s Vehicle was totaled in the accident. Tonya Ramsey 26 of Sac City was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion that was also totaled in the accident heading east. Tonya’s vehicle rolled on to its top and she had to be extricated from the vehicle. There were no major injuries in the accident. Jackie will be cited for left of center.

Monday, July 23rd

Deputies assisted with locating a juvenile female during RAGBRAI that was separated from her family between Coon Rapids and Scranton.

A deputy investigated a careless driving complaint in the area of D Avenue and 130th Street.

Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 500 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction.

A deputy assisted Greene County EMS with a call at the River Farm in the 900 block of 222nd Street.

Tuesday, July 24th

A deputy responded to a noise complaint in the area of J Avenue and 240th Street.

Douglas Joseph Strang (61) of Des Moines was booked into the Greene County Jail for Operating While Under the Influence -2 nd Offense, Driving While License is Under Suspension and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.

A deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with an individual trying to locate a campsite during RAGBRAI in Jefferson.

A deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department locating a missing female from Jefferson.

A deputy investigated a vehicle parked just south of 220th Street on S Avenue.

Deputies investigated a two-vehicle accident on 130th Street and just east of P Avenue. Lucas Joseph Pontius (19) of Ogden, was traveling west in a 1994 Buick Regal Sport on 130th Street, when a bump in the road caused the rear driver’s side tire to lock up. Pontius lost control of the vehicle and went into the south ditch where he struck a utility box (Midland Power Cooperative – $2500) and a telephone/cable box (WCCTA Gowrie Telephone Service – $500) before coming to a stop. Damage to Pontius’s vehicle was totaled at estimated $2,500 of damage. The second vehicle driven by Sophia Ponce-Rhum (53) of Round Rock, Texas, was traveling east on 130th Street when she swerved left to avoid Pontius but was struck by the other vehicle. Damage to Ponce-Rhum’s 2005 Ford F-250 pick up was estimated at $1,500 for there was a crack on the lower passenger’s side windshield and front bumper. No injuries were reported and Pontious’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

Deputies assisted looking for children who had been separated from their party during RAGBRAI. Children were located shortly after.

Chad Christopher Louk (42) of Jefferson, was booked into the Greene County Jail for Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness.

A deputy investigated damage to a bicycle in the 300 block of North 11th Street in Grand Junction.

A deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle in the area of N Avenue and 140th Street.

A deputy investigated an abandoned 911 emergency line call in area of the 1100 block of L Avenue.

A deputy investigated a female subject walking in the area of Neola Avenue and 270th Street.

Daniel Joseph Brownfield Jr. (38) of Ogden, was booked into the Greene County Jail for the charges of Theft 3rd Degree and Burglary 3rd Degree-Motor Vehicle.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
