The summer offseason workouts for the West Central Valley girls basketball team includes more than putting up jump shots. Wildcat head girls basketball coach Drew Stonewall joined the Guthrie County PM Sports Page Monday evening to discuss several topics about his team’s offseason training ahead of the 2018-19 season later this year. Stonewall stated the team tried to get together three or four times each week throughout the summer to work on everything from lifting to speed and agility workouts. “A lot of it is simple stuff,” Stonewall said, “Dot drills, ladders, quick change of movement, jumping, those sort of things working on explosiveness.”

Stonewall adds the drills benefit not only the Wildcat basketball team but all girls athletes out of sports at West Central Valley Community Schools. The 2017-18 West Central Valley girls basketball season ended with a 9-12 overall record, and four players graduated off last year’s squad including Taylor Beane, Bailey Burris, Grace Dupuy, and Kennedy Lose.
