acgcThe ACGC volleyball team lost three key seniors from 2017’s squad to graduation, including team captains Mady Smith and MaKayla Hoing. However, ACGC first-year head coach Trevor Irwin thinks this year’s incoming senior class can pick up where the team left off last year.

Irwin talks about the leadership his class of seven seniors have displayed in the offseason preparations.

“We have a really strong set of seniors coming in…This group of seniors are very good leaders. They bring up the intensity, they bring up the attitude, and they really kind of pull us all together as a team. So I’m going to be looking forward to them a lot throughout the year especially in our long stretch in the middle of the season to really kind of pick up that attitude and really kind of guide the team to success. I think they’ll do a really good job of kind of taking the team and steering as towards our goals of where we want to go overall.”

Last year’s junior class on the varsity roster included: Jadeyn Carrick, Sierra O’Brien, Savana Fuller, Genevieve Hoover, Samantha Sloss, Josie Sargent, Chelsea Larsen, and Paige Caltrider. The Chargers open up the regular season on Tuesday, August 21st at West Central Valley in Stuart.
