3:14am: Officers responded to 900 East Highway 30 for an unknown leak. Everything was found to be okay.

8:33am: St. Joseph Catholic Church reported an abandoned vehicle on their property at 501 North Locust Street.

9:20am: Officers assisted the Department of Human Services with a home visit at 703 North Wilson Avenue.

9:53am: An officer responded to the 400 block of North Chestnut Street for a minor traffic accident. The two parties involved handled the accident amongst themselves.

1:13pm: Debra Curtis reported having issues with identity theft.

1:14pm:Jami Hopkins reported a vehicle selling meat from door to door in town. An officer located the salesman and directed them to City Hall to obtain a permit.

1:58pm: Melinda Millard reported Maurice Wistenberg driving by her residence and “snooping”.

3:12pm: An officer responded to the 300 block of South Grimmell Road for a dead deer.

4:25pm: Paul Oyres spoke with an officer about possible items stolen from his residence at 402 North Vine Street. It was determined nothing was actually stolen.

8:11pm: As a result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of North Elm Street, Triston Nelson of Carroll was issued a citation for Excessive Speed.

8:33pm: Scott Dickens spoke with an officer about a civil issue.

9:09pm: Brenda Ganoe reported a Harassment complaint.

9:39pm: Officers responded to the 800 block of West Lincoln Way for a report of a suspicious person.

11:18pm: Daniel Tasler reported being Assaulted by Chad Louk at 600 North Elm Street over a disagreement about car parts. As a result, an Arrest Warrant has been requested for Chad (42) of Jefferson for Assault Causing Bodily Injury – Serious Misdemeanor.

11:30pm: An anonymous caller advised the pool lights were left on at 701 South Maple Street.

Saturday, July 21st

1:58am: Susan Ikerd reported finding a knife on a pillow in her bedroom at 601 South Oak Street.

5:58am: An officer responded to 204 West Harrison Street for an alarm.

5:17pm: As a result of a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Vine Street, Jorge Lemus of Fort Dodge was issued a citation for Fail to Provide Proof of Security Against Liability, Driving While Suspended and Operate Non Registered Vehicle.

8:24pm: Staff at the Wild Rose Casino reported an abandoned vehicle at 777 Wild Rose Lane.

10:51pm: Leslie Echevarria of Gowrie reported one of her tires being slashed on her vehicle at the Wild Rose Casino. An officer is investigating.

11:08pm: Brandon Bride reported several teenagers on the railroad tracks.

Sunday, July 22nd

2:34am: An officer assisted Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 300 block of South Walnut Street.

9:49am: Casey’s reported a gas drive off at 508 North Elm Street.

12:40pm: Mary Stroud spoke with an officer about a civil issue.

2:03pm: An officer assisted with a funeral escort.

5:04pm: An officer responded to 101 Ram Drive for a parking complaint.

5:34pm: An officer responded to Henderson Park for a camping complaint.

5:48pm: An officer assisted Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 200 block of North Cedar Street.

6:52pm: Abi Winkelman spoke with an officer about a civil issue.

Monday, July 23rd

2:24am: An officer assisted a motorist with a flat tire at 220th Street and Orchard Ave.

5:02am: An officer checked on a 911 Hang Up call from 207 W. Gallop Street.

8:02am: A caller advised of a sick squirrel at Russell Park. The officer arrived and the squirrel had climbed a tree and was unreachable.

9:16am: An officer was called to Kelso Park by a subject who had reserved the entire park for her Ragbrai Team. Others were attempting to set up camp in the park. The officer asked them to go elsewhere.

10:18am: Marvin Ross requested an unwanted female to be removed from his property at 103 East Monroe Street. The officer spoke to the female, who left on her own.

10:34am: An officer checked the area of 220th and Elm Street after a 911 Hang Up call from that area. No one was located in need of assistance.

1:28pm: Officers assisted EMS with a Medical Call for a bicyclist in the 800 Block of West Lincoln Way Street.

1:35pm: Officers checked on a Life Line Activation in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street. The subject was fine.

3:05pm: Officers received numerous Driving Complaints about a specific School Bus being used as a shuttle. The officer made contact with the driver and spoke to him about the complaints.

3:47pm: Officers assisted EMS with a Medical Call for a bicyclist near Elm and Vest Streets.

6:35pm: An officer investigated a One Vehicle Property Damage Accident at 403 West Central Ave. A 1985 GMC Motor Home, owned by Jeff Robinson of Des Moines and operated by Christopher Manning of Des Moines, was westbound on Central. The vehicle was tall enough to pull an electrical wire and cable tv wire off of the residence at 403 West Central Street. The residence had a reported $1000.00 in damages to the electric service. The officer is still gathering costs on the electric and cable wires.

7:00pm: Officers responded to an alarm activation at 403 West Head Street. The building was secure.

7:04p: Paul Gehling advised of a male subject drinking Vodka and driving in the 1200 Block of North Elm Street. The officer did not locate the vehicle.

7:07pm: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 700 Block of Wild Rose Lane.

7:19pm: Officers assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 100 Block of Ram Drive.

8:10pm: An officer was advised of a minor accident at the Little League Fields. Both parties involved exchanged information and advised a report was not needed.

8:16pm: Carrie Sanders advised of bicyclists trespassing on a yard in the 300 Block of East Monroe Street.

10:14pm:An officer checked on a Noise Complaint from the area of the High School. The band uptown was the only noise heard in the area.

10:22pm: Officers took a report of an elderly male Ragbrai rider, who had not yet reached Jefferson. He arrived a short time later.

10:28pm: A caller in the area of Southfield Drive complained of the loud music from the RAGBRAI Venue.

10:52pm: A Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of West Adams Street resulted in the arrest of Douglas Joseph Strang, 61 of West Des Moines for, “OWI 2nd Offense – Aggravated, Driving While Suspended – Simple, Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Simple, and Excessive Speed.”

11:15pm: Tracy Ferguson requested officers at her daughter’s residence in the 800 Block of West State Street. She advised her daughter’s estranged boyfriend was attempting to break into the residence. The subject had left the area before the officers arrived.

11:44pm: James Scieszinski reported a male subject grabbed his cell phone and threw it across the crowd at the Ragbrai Venue. Officers later located the cell phone and returned it to the owner.
