This weekend, the public has four opportunities to see the resurrection of the Perry Community Theater, as they present “The Trial of Goldilocks.”

The play follows a farcical trial, with three different accounts of the confrontation between Goldilocks and the three bears. It will run both Friday and Saturday at 7 and 8 p.m., with performances in the downstairs courtroom at the Carnegie Library Museum. Seating is limited to 40 each night, and Director Marilee Bales says some showings are already sold out. As such, people are encouraged to stop into the Carnegie to get tickets ahead of time. Bales says there are two good reasons to give the play a try. “It’s the best five bucks you’ll ever spend. It’s 35 minutes long, so you can still have dinner before or after, it’s not going to suck away a whole night for you. And you will have a great time and just be able to laugh at some good, clean humor!”

Perry has been without a community theater for several years, and Bales says this play is a kind of test run to gauge the public’s interest in the performing arts. “Perry struggles to have the fine arts supported, and so if we just have a good turnout, that encourages us that we do yet another one and another one. So support your local theater!”
