IMG_2844The Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center School Boards met in a joint session Wednesday.

The Boards discussed the search for the next superintendent at AC/GC. Both Boards agreed that Jim Verlengia should be involved as often as possible in the search process. Verlengia assisted in West Central Valley’s recent superintendent search process.

Both Boards also agreed that they would like to interview four search firms to help them with the selection process. Guthrie Center Board President Wes Policky informed the Board that Verlengia feels the districts are ahead of schedule in terms of preparation for the transition. No formal action though was taken as a result of the discussion.

There was also extensive discussion on successes and concerns with the whole-grade sharing relationship. Superintendent Steve Smith stressed the importance of communication between the two districts, as well as transportation efficiency. They also discussed how whole-grade sharing has allowed more opportunities for diverse educational offerings, particularly in courses providing college credit.

Action items approved included: 28E agreements for Superintendent, Counselor, Transportation Director, and Curriculum Director and miscellaneous school fees. Both Boards then met separately in general sessions.
