A Scranton man was recently sentenced in Greene County District Court for a May incident.
According to court documents, 55-year-old Johnnie Jackson pled guilty to a Class D Felony for third degree burglary and had his five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. He also pled guilty to a serious misdemeanor for fourth degree theft and was sentenced to 14 days in Greene County Jail with credit for time already served.
The charges stem from an incident on May 14th. The Greene County Sheriff’s office investigated a burglary incident at the Casey’s General Store in Scranton around 3:15am. Deputies found Jackson leaving the gas station as he tried to hide in the bushes. He broke into the gas station by throwing a brick into the glass door and stole several items.
Court documents show that Jackson was ordered to pay over $2,000 in fines, surcharges, victim restitution and court costs. As per his plea agreement, the State agreed to dismiss Jackson’s misdemeanor charge of interference with official acts.
