Dallas Supervisors 5-29

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

One of the first items on the agenda was approval of payroll change notices, though there was one special case in the mix. Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard requested an increase in salary for the Emergency Management Coordinator position. Leonard says they offered the job to an individual from Iowa, but it was declined because the salary was too far below what he was currently making. The Board approved the increase, though the individual hasn’t yet accepted the position.

Next, following a public hearing, the Board approved five contracts with Waste Management for trash services. The contracts will cost $545.97 per month. After that, there was a workshop to discuss the space needs of the County Treasurer’s Office. Jerry Purdy from Design Alliance shared concepts he had been working on to shift departments around in the Courthouse. The changes hinge upon the movement of the Juvenile Court Services to another facility, so no formal action was taken on the plans.

The Board also tabled decisions on building inspector services with Finestead Enterprises and an agreement with UnityPoint for hospice ambulance services. They then approved appropriations for the 2019 fiscal year budget, and a user agreement with Xenia Rural Water for the new law enforcement center. Finally, the Board set July 31st at 9:30am as the public hearing date to discuss a floor mat cleaning services contract with Cintas.
