In spite of a very wet June in which they experienced several instances of flooding, the City of Adel is now experiencing high water demands.
With more hot and dry weather forecasted for the area, the City is now implementing a Water Watch, which is the first stage of conservation under the water conservation plan. While the watch is in effect, residents are encouraged to limit outside watering. Additionally, they are asked to water lawns between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., to mitigate the effects of evaporation during the hotter daytime hours. The watch doesn’t apply to Xenia Rural Water customers.
The City emphasizes that the water watch is voluntary, but if conditions continue to worsen they may move to the next stage of the water conservation plan, which is a water warning. Under a warning, strict water use guidelines will take effect, and it will not be voluntary. Anyone with questions is encouraged to reach out to Adel City Hall at 515-993-4525.
