The Iowa Department of Transportation is now into phase two of their construction project on Highway 169 between highways 141 and 30, meaning the road is currently closed to all traffic.
Manatt’s Construction is in the midst of a concrete overlay for the 15 miles of highway between Ogden and the “Four Corners” area, working one mile at a time. Iowa DOT Technician Supervisor Dennis Ward tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the contractor believes they can complete a mile per day, and the estimated completion date is August 30th. However, the timetable is weather-dependant. With the overlay started, there is an official detour in place from Perry to Ogden. It includes Highway 141 to Woodward, Highway 220 to Madrid, then Highway 17 to U.S. Highway 30.
The project, which included patching of several rough areas of the highway, is estimated to cost $9 million. To view this and other current DOT projects, click the link below.
