A local school district will continue it’s June lunch program for the rest of the summer. The Panorama Community School District served a free lunch to children, and even some adults, in each of the district’s communities throughout the month of June and early July. Superintendent Shawn Holloway says that program will continue for a few more weeks.
Holloway believes the program is a credit to the hard work of two staff members. “There are two staff members that kind of spearheaded it. Julie Weidenthaler and Kylee Boettcher came to me with the idea and then really it just took off from there. Their initial goal was to try to have lunch once a week in each of the communities that make up Panorama through the month of June. Just the amount of support they’ve received they’re actually going to continue that into July and early August.”
The majority of the funds for this program do not come from the district’s budget itself, but donations from the community. Dates and locations for the extended program have not yet been set.
