The 2018-2019 school year is a little more than a month away, and in that time the Perry School District has some staffing decisions to make.
Superintendent Clark Wicks says most positions in the District are filled at the moment, with a few exceptions including a Teacher Leadership and Compensation (TLC) opening. “We’re about 99% staffed. We need a librarian position that we’ll be working on, (and) we do have a custodial position. And then our TLC Coordinator Shannon Cline took a Dean of Students position at Bondurant-Farrar. So we’ll be interviewing for that position. Those are the positions that we have (open), so we really feel fortunate again to have our staff in place and ready to go, and things are looking good.”
The librarian position became open after the Woodward-Granger School District decided they no longer wanted to share with Perry. Wicks says the administration is currently exploring other possible sharing opportunities, or they may hire a part-time librarian if the right one comes along. He’s confident that each of the openings will be filled well ahead of the start of the school year.
