Greene County (14-11) and Glenwood (10-19) face off at 5 p.m. today in Winterset in the opening round of Class 3A District 16 baseball. The game will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 4:30 p.m.
Mitch Moore is the Activities Director at Greene County High School, and is an avid baseball fan. He talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about Coach John Hupp and the baseball program. “Coach Hupp has done a great job with our team! It’s been fun to watch him, and them, perform all year long. It’s a great team atmosphere. The team really enjoys being around each other, and we’ve had some big wins and some great pitching outings throughout the season. It’ll be fun to play Glenwood in Winterset. Glenwood has a great sports culture. They won the 3A basketball State Championship, and their football coach and A.D. has done a great job in building that thing up. Playing Glenwood will be a good challenge for our kids.”
Greene County is attempting to win at least one postseason baseball game for a second straight year after topping ADM in 2017. Postseason victories two years in a row have been tough to come by in recent seasons.
