The Greene County Fair wraps up with the Junior Premium Auction on Monday.
It is a live auction where each youth that showed livestock, static, an animal or showed something else at the fair will have their list read off and then the crowd will bid on that individual. Greene County Chamber and Tourism also participates as a bidder. Board President Mike Holden says he bids on most projects and explains how he incorporates those who contribute funds that he uses to bid on.
“When the Chamber wins a bid, I will state that ‘This is brought to you by Greene County Area Chamber and Tourism and in part…’ and I’ll go through a list of my different contributors so that those people get individual recognition. That’s my job as the Chamber and to help get those kids as much reward, as you will, as we can.”
Holden adds that any individual or any business can donate money and that all money goes back to the kids and their hard work during the county fair. Anyone interested in donating money can contact the Chamber office at 386-2155 or email them this weekend at chamber@greenecountyiowa.com.
