Tuesday marked the end of the 2018 West Central Valley baseball season, and concluded the high school athletic career of two recent Wildcat graduates. Both Riley Algreen and Billy Larsen cracked the starting lineup this summer for second year head coach Justin Keck. Algreen split time between right and left field, recording 18 hits in 79 plate appearances. He registered one home run, drove in 10 runs and scored 14 others. Larsen was a mainstay in center field for the Wildcats, collecting 13 hits 66 at bats. He drove in eight runs and stole eight bases.
Algreen and Larsen compete on multiple Wildcat varsity sports teams during the 2017-18 school year. Both played a role on West Central Valley’s football this past fall. Larsen played on the basketball team this winter and ran track in the spring. Algreen grappled with the Wildcat wrestling team during the winter.West Central Valley finished the 2018 baseball season with 12 wins and 15 losses, falling to the Kuemper Catholic Knights of Carroll in the district semifinal round, 10-3.
