Greene County softball had nine straight winning seasons including finishing third in the Class 3A State Tournaments in 2014 and ’15. A winning season followed in 2016, then the Rams were 10-20 last year and 8-19 this season.
Despite having more losses than wins, Greene County Activities Director Mitch Moore had many positives to tell Raccoon Valley Radio about the program and head coach Tom Kennedy. “Coach does a great job with our softball program and record-wise we were down a little bit, and we lost (in the Regional) to a great Roland-Story team (2018 State Qualifier), but it’s fun to have a coach like Coach Kennedy in your athletic department and on your staff because of the way he coaches, and the things he demands, and the consistency in which he approaches practice every day. Talent is going to be up and down, that’s just the nature of high school, but to watch Coach Kennedy operate and do the things he does, it’s a benefit for me as a head coach (football) because you get a chance to watch a guy like that who’s done it for a long time. I’m grateful Coach is a part of our staff and a part of Greene County athletics, and I hope to have him around for as long as he wants.”
The Rams graduated just three seniors.
