RRVT

The Raccoon River Valley Trail is up for a major distinction, but it needs the public to vote on its behalf, and tomorrow is the last day you can do so.

The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is considering the RRVT and four other trails across the United States for its Hall of Fame. The nonprofit organization’s goal is to create a network of trails from former railroad lines, and each of the trails considered was once a rail system. Dallas County Conservation Outreach Coordinator Ken Keffer encourages everyone in central Iowa and beyond to vote early and often. “I know it’s kind of cliche, but it’s just an honor to be nominated. But it really does showcase how wonderful our backyard is! And you can vote as many times as you want, it’s unlimited voting until Friday. So get on the old computer, and pound away. You know, I know Iowa loves to vote, so let’s get out there and represent!”

At 89-miles and growing, the RRVT is the longest among the five candidates. Click the link below to vote for the Rails-to-Trails Hall of Fame. To hear more from Keffer, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County on air and online.
