The Greene County School Board recently approved the school district’s 2018-19 contract for athletic training services.
The Board unanimously approved a $7,000 contract with a familiar company in 21st Century Rehab. The District has utilized their services since 2016. The contract stipulates that a certified athletic trainer and/or physical therapist is required to be at every home and away varsity football game and home junior varsity football games, along with home varsity volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, track and soccer competitions. The contract also covers one home cross-country meet, as well as home middle school football games and wrestling meets.
One new aspect for the upcoming school year is adding all away football games for junior varsity and freshman, as well as all home middle school girls and boys track meets. Those contests are an additional 20 events.
Activities Director Mitch Moore stressed to the Board at their most recent meeting in June to continue to provide these services for the overall health of the student-athletes.
As an added benefit, 21st Century Rehab will continue to offer their concussion prevention program and will conduct pre-participation concussion baseline screenings for all fall athletes starting August 6th. Baseline testing will also be given for incoming seventh grade football players, freshman and junior athletes, as well as any student going out for a sport for the first time.
The other bid that was submitted was from McFarland Clinic for $15,000.
