acgcThe ACGC baseball team met the Glidden-Ralston Wildcats in a non-conference clash last night. There wasn’t much scoring in the ten-inning marathon as GR outlasted the Chargers 4-1.

The Wildcats got off to the early lead in the top of the 3rd when senior Drew Olberding scored off a fielder’s choice. The score would remain 1-0 until the bottom of the 7th when senior Owen Hansen drove a ball towards Olberding’s glove at shortstop. Olberding dropped the ball, which allowed Hansen to go to first and Caden Wardyn to score from third.

The runs were capped off by sophomore Jared Free’s two-RBI single, bringing home Justin Sparks and Nathan Brant. Wardyn got on base in the bottom of the 10th, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats secured the victory. ACGC drops to 3-19 on the season while Glidden-Ralston improves to 5-14.

Senior Quenton Spack pitched a career high seven strikeouts in six innings of relief work. Though the pair of Wildcat pitchers in Sparks and Olberding combined for eleven of their own.
