An “Antiques Roadshow” style event will make its way to the Bayard and Panora Public Libraries towards the end of this month. Appraiser Mark F. Moran will make his way to the Bayard Public Library on Thursday July 19th from 5:30-8:30pm and to the Panora Public Library on Friday, July 20th from 11am-2pm.
Moran, who started these appraisal sessions in 2011, travels across the midwest assessing local antiques. Types of acceptable items for appraisal include: fine art, furniture, glass and ceramics, toys, clocks, costume jewelry, and sports memorabilia. Items that will not be accepted for appraisal include: weapons, coins and currency, and fine jewelry.
Moran particularly enjoys appraising fine art. “That’s one of the areas where I have a lot of background, a lot of history. Paintings, drawings, sculpture, lithographs, etchings, (and) prints of various kinds. That’s probably number one.”
Those who wish to have their items appraisee must pre-register with the library. The event is free and open to the public. To hear more about the events, listen to Monday’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
