The last contest in June saw the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers baseball team (8-14 overall) return to winning form. The Tigers traveled to Chariton Friday for a nonconference game against the Chargers (3-20 overall). ADM posted the second-best offensive output of the month, defeating Chariton 12-2 in six innings. The Tigers plated all 12 runs after the third inning, highlighted by a six-run sixth. ADM head baseball coach Jason Book was pleased with the result against the Chargers. “We had the opprotunity to take advantage of some plays with runners in scoring position, and did a really good job of putting the ball in play.” Book said, “We had a lot of hard-hit balls that were outs, so that was encouraging. Guys are swinging it and eventually, those balls are going to drop (for us).”

Seniors stepped up in multiple ways to help end a five-game overall losing streak. Nick Dufuoe had a team-best three hits; Dufuoe and Ethan Meyer each plated three runs apiece. Nick Lindgren scored three runs, stole two bases, and walked twice. Dalton Hews earns the win on the mound, allowing two runs on two hits, walking no one and striking out four in two innings. The victory improves ADM’s overall record to 8-14. The Tigers resume their Raccoon River Conference season in Slater tonight, playing two varsity games against the Ballard Bombers. First pitch of game one takes place around 5 p.m. from Nite Hawk Field.
