acgcThe ACGC baseball team secured its first conference wins of the season Saturday, defeating the Woodward Academy Knights in a West Central Activities Conference doubleheader 10-0 and 13-3.

The Chargers needed just five hits and five innings to take game one, as they were walked a total of eight times in the first contest. Seniors Caden Wardyn, Garrett Walhovd, Quenton Spack, and Nate Schiller, as well as eighth grader Reid Rumelhart all secured one hit in the victory. Junior Will Byars got the start on the mound, but lasted just one inning, even though he allowed no hits. Wardyn came in to finish the game and struck out a Charger record eleven batters and walked just two to combine with Byars for the first no-hitter in ACGC history.

In game two the Chargers once again never trailed. Spack led the team at the plate, going 3-4 with a double and two singles. He also drove in a run, drew a walk, and stole a base. His base robbing was one of a record 12 for the gold and black. Walhovd and Wardyn each scored three runs and sophomore pitcher Bryce Littler picked up his first win at ACGC, going five innings and striking out five.

The Chargers improve to 3-18 on the season and have won back-to-back games for the first time in program history. They will look to keep the winning streak going against Panorama and Glidden-Ralston on Thursday.
