The Panora City Council met in regular session Monday.
The Council officially adopted water and sewer rate increases. The water availability charge will increase by $1.90, with usage increases ranging between $0.25 and $1 per 1,000 gallons. There are also increases to Xenia Rural Water and Lake Panorama Association residents. As for sewer, the availability charge will increase by $0.42, while the flow charge will be $0.18 higher. Sewer rates specifically will also increase by 3% annually.
The Council then approved the second reading on an ordinance amending electric rates based on demand. Other action items approved include an urban revitalization tax exempt application for 413 East Lane Street and the sale of the old transformer and reclosers to T&R Electric for $3,000. The Council also discussed possible committee members for a Housing Needs Assessment through Region XII.
The meeting concluded with an update on the water line project by City Distribution Superintendent, Tony Monthei. Monthei was also recognized for 30 years of service to the City of Panora.
