The Greene County Sheriff’s office recently increased its staff.
Earlier this week, the County Board of Supervisors approved two part-time hires with Caleb Jans and Matthew Silbaugh as deputies. Sheriff Jack Williams shared with the Supervisors that Silbaugh used to work with the Sheriff’s office and will need to go through officer certification training and Jans is already a certified officer with the Jefferson Police Department. Williams pointed out that Jans and Silbaugh will be used as needed and when it works in their other schedules. Williams talks about why he needed the extra help.
“It just helps with vacation times so that the full time deputies have the time to take it off. And then also with all of the committal trips and criminal trips elsewhere, it’s also going to help with saving the full time deputies from doing trips after their regular full trips.”
Williams adds that along with Shane Jones, he is up to three part-time deputies with his seven full time deputies on staff.
The Supervisors approved the part-time wages at $18.15-per hour with a start date of July 1st.
