The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.
The Council approved Justin Veinteicher as a volunteer firefighter, applying for a Wells Fargo project grant for the building of the new animal shelter and a fireworks permit for Terry Semke.
Finally the Council heard a needs assessment study report from library planner George Lawson about the Jefferson Public Library. Lawson noted that the current 8,000-square-foot, two building facility wasn’t adequate for the expected growth and future needs of the library through 2040. He recommended that facility range between 16,500 and 19,000-square-feet to have the space needed for the future. If the Council proceeds, the next steps Lawson talked about were hiring an architectural firm to conduct a feasibility study to find the exact solutions of what the future needs of the library would be. The Council took no action on the topic.
